About Me

Barry grew up in Warrington, Cheshire where he lived in the small village of Cinnamon Brow until the age of 19 before moving to Scarborough to train as an Actor.

While he attended Culcheth High School in Warrington, he was an active member of the Culcheth Players Amateur Dramatics society where he took the role of Waiter in John Godber's "LUCKY SODS" and Wilfred in Bill Naughton's "SPRING & PORT WINE". The role of the Waiter at the age of 14 was his first role as an actor where he was nominated for the Best Male Newcomer in the Cheshire Theatre Guild Awards. His next and last role for Culcheth Players was a nomination for Best Male Actor as Wilfred.

While not on stage he was always recognised as pulling his weight in other areas such as set building or stage management. This is a theme that still runs through his career today. While not on stage at the Stephen Joseph Theatre, he has twice successfully been a member of the Stage Management team as SM - "WHERE I COME FROM..." and DSM - "PASS IT ON". Both directed by Cheryl Govan.

Barry enjoyed his two years training as an actor at the School of Creative Arts where the course used the old home of the Stephen Joseph Theatre. (Now at Scarborough's old ODEON Cinema.)

While training he was lucky enough to take the lead role, Marcus in Chris Perkin's new play, "PINOCCHIO.CO.UK" directed by Laurie Sansom. On The HND Theatre (Acting) he went through a diverse range of training for many different styles of text ("THE TEMPEST" by W.Shakespeare, "ATTEMPTS ON HER LIFE" by M.Crimp, "ASHGIRL" by T.Wertenbaker) and the many different Mediums (T.V. / Film, Radio, Theatre, Musicals, Corporate) to become a very distinct actor.

He has since enjoyed such achievements as directing Alan Ayckbourn's 1992 play, "TIME OF MY LIFE" and brought the play back to it's original home for the first time in 13 years.
